RORC Channel Race

Jaguar Logic pushes Visit Malta Puma all the way!

The Channel race this year provided the teams aboard our three yachts with the perfect sailing conditions.  With sunshine, warm winds, a full moon and 12 – 15 knots of breeze we could not have asked for more ideal conditions!

With a forty mile beat to Portland Bill both our Reflex 38’s fought a tight battle with the lead changing several times before both Jaguar and Visit Malta Puma rounded the mark for a fabulous 64-mile downwind leg.

Visit Malta Puma had a slim lead of just three boat lengths at the mark.  Jaguar Logic were breathing down their neck all the way, determined not to let them go.

In a tense and nail-biting sprint to the finish Visit Malta Puma held Jaguar Logic with just a one minute lead.  This is the closest the two Reflex’s have ever finished in an offshore race and is clear testimony to the close match racing that one design racing provides in evenly matched boats.

Visit Malta Puma finished 4th overall and 3rd in IRC 1 whilst Jaguar Logic was right behind in 5th and 4th respectively!  Visit Malta Puma are still leading IRC 1 in the series with a lead that only British Soldier can now take!  Round Britain and Ireland will certainly be an exciting race with both boats continuing their titan ic battle to the end!
